Did you see? Well did you search?

There are instances in which current events seem like common knowledge. I am always the one to update my sister on the latest happenings on the national and global scale. I don't do this by sending links or reposting, this comes up naturally in conversation. It makes me ponder where responsibility lies in terms of networked knowledge. 

Algorithms incentivize sensationalism and keep you engaged by using confirmation bias, yet, we have the ability to exit our comfort zones and search for new knowledge to be "in-the-know" with current events. People used to receive news papers and independent media was not prominent as it is today. However, today, with the growing presence of independent media you are introduced to more news and more perspectives. However, algorithms refuse to share multiple perspectives as they value your screen time over your intellectual potential. 

Networked knowledge is not a synonym for common knowledge, but can present itself as so based on virality.
