 Technological advancements have vastly improved our lives. No one doubts its contributions to medicine, agriculture, education, and more. Yet, at the turn of each invention, there are skeptics.

I would hypothesize that people are not scared of technology, we are scared of each other. 

As social networking expands, the world gets smaller and we are overexposed. Pockets of communities are amplified under anonymity that would not have prevailed prior to. Our neighbors turn into potential assailants and there is a constant lens ready to capitalize off of our latest mistake. 

What is important is to be in the social media space but not of it. Tailor your algorithm, take breaks, and understand that SNS is not the real world. We can adopt a fallacy that we have knowledge just because we have information.
